The Centre is a front-runner in High-Performance Computing (HPC), both nationally and internationally. It supports outstanding research and education in various scientific domains by providing stable, professional, reliable, secure, and energy-efficient IT services based on the latest IT technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BADW-LRZ, within the scope of the\nGauss Centre for Supercomputing (GCS), operates SuperMUC-NG, a leadership class\nsupercomputer with 311,040 x86 cores and a peak performance of 26.9 PFlop\/s, as\nwell as a number of general purpose and specialized clusters, including a Intel\nXeon Phi Cluster which is 100% warm water cooled for energy efficiency\n(CooLMUC-3). Realsing such innovative systems with partners, LRZ is an active\nmember of the Energy Efficient HPC Working Group (EEHPCWG) and leads the Energy\nEfficiency Working Group of the ETP4HPC&nbsp;.\n\nOperating one of the PRACE Tier-0 machines,\nBADW-LRZ is a major player on the European level. It is a member of the\nEuropean Technology Platform for High-Performance Computing (ETP4HPC) and\nparticipates in the European Exascale Software Initiative\n(EESI2).&nbsp;BADW-LRZ has substantially contributed to the development and\noperation of the European e-Infrastructures such as PRACE and G\u00c9ANT and has\nconstantly been involved in various EU-funded projects since FP6.
