IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center
IT4I (IT4Innovations, VSB – Technical University of Ostrava)
IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center was established as a university institute at VSB – Technical University of Ostrava. IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center (IT4Innovations) represents a strategic large research infrastructure in the Czech Republic. IT4Innovations provides state-of-the-art supercomputing technology and services and conducts excellent research in the field of High Performance Computing (HPC), High Performance Data Analysis (HDPA), and Artificial Intelligence (AI). IT4Innovations operates a national HPC service, conducts world-class excellent research, provides HPC related training, and significantly participates in the educational activities of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava within the fields of HPC and applied mathematics. Moreover, it is the national node of PRACE (the Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe – a Pan-European e-infrastructure), and is a member of EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (building a European exascale supercomputer), ETP4HPC (European Technology Platform for High Performance Computing), DBVA (Big Data Value Association), and EUDAT (Collaborative Data Infrastructure). IT4Innovations is also registered by the European Commission as a Digital Innovation Hub in the fields of HPC, artificial intelligence, and advanced data analysis. IT4Innovations provides computational resources, know-how and expertise to academia and industry across the Czech Republic and to the European HPC community as well. The services include access to four supercomputers, namely Anselm (94 TFlop/s, installed in Summer 2013), Salomon (2 PFlop/s, installed in Summer 2015), Barbora (826 TFlop/s, installed in Fall 2019) and special system for artificial intelligence computation, NVIDIA DGX-2 (2 PFlop/s in AI, installed in Spring 2019). A petascale EURO_IT4I system will be installed during 2020 as a part of the EuroHPC project.
